In emergencies, “the situation is more serious than last summer” in France, said Tuesday Marc Noizet, president of Samu-Urgences de France, stressing that all departments are affected but also tourist areas in high season.
“The situation is more serious than last summer because now it affects all the departments of France, large services and small services. Last summer we had red zones,” he told Europe 1.
For Marc Noizet, also responsible for the emergency department of the hospital group in the Mulhouse and South-Alsace region, “the novelty is that the extremely tourist areas (…) are today in a very, very precarious situation”, citing Les Sables- d’Olonne (Vendée) or Arcachon (Gironde).
In these territories, the teams “have been forced to set up a structure in the car park in front of the hospital where doctors do minor traumatology to alleviate emergencies” or even Saint-Tropez (Côte d’Azur) “which has almost closed due to its department of emergencies.
Medical office assistants on strike
“More pernicious”, according to him, “we close Smur, the part of the hospital that moves to the public highway or to your house when there is a serious incident”, “sometimes for a night or a weekend”.
“For example, around Angers, this long weekend with the August 15 bridge, seven Smurs are closed, but it affects vital emergencies,” he added.
In the ER, as in the rest of the hospital, “were all the reinforcements we could mobilize,” and “the regulation of the remuneration of casual workers did a lot of damage, even if it was a necessary evil,” he said. the president of Samu-Urgences de France.
As for the medical regulation assistants (ARM), the first to respond to calls to Samu and on strike in 69 of the 100 departmental centers, “they are poorly paid, they have problems with career promotion and with the adequacy of their number compared to with the flow,” he explained.
“There is a real problem, the minister acknowledges it, now things must move forward,” launched Marc Noizet.
Visiting the Toulouse Samu on Monday, Health Minister Aurélien Rousseau declared that “part” of the striking ARM’s demands were “legitimate” and that he intended to “work on them in the coming weeks.”
