Never seen before in pharmacies
Faced with this proliferation, pharmacies are also under attack. “Never” had pharmacist Mathieu Declercq sold so many repellents or anti-itch creams, he explains to Western France. “So many requests, it’s exceptional. On Monday and Tuesday, one in every two clients came looking for him,” adds his colleague Benjamín Lemaire.
The same observation at the Denis Millet pharmacy, which offers a wide range of solutions for itching:
“If we itch a lot, we use antihistamine creams, or even corticosteroids, cortisone in doses that we can give without a prescription,” says the specialist.
In certain situations, small bites have such an effect that taking oral antihistamines, which are more effective, may be suggested.

Sometimes, the bites can cause “skin complications” and scars,” warns another pharmacist to the newspaper of the West. In addition, the insect is known to transmit and spread numerous diseases, including dengue, often benign, or even the chikungunya virus. .
The proliferation of the striped mosquito could be curbed if the climate became less favorable for its conservation. However, strong heat is expected this weekend. For this reason, many municipalities are studying the radical option of mosquito control.
