A person died in Ile-de-France earlier this week after contracting botulism while eating sardines at a Bordeaux restaurant. Faced with this tragedy, the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office decided this Friday to open a preliminary investigation, as BFMTV learned from a source close to the investigation. The investigation is open for the crimes of unintentional injuries, involuntary manslaughter, marketing of foods harmful to health and sale of corrupt or toxic foods.
Autopsy of the victim this Friday
The investigation is entrusted jointly to the judicial police of Gironde, the Central Office for combating attacks on the environment and public health (OCLAESP) and the Departmental Directorate for Population Protection (DDPP).
The victim’s autopsy will be performed this Friday and the results will be known early next week.
In recent days there have been another eleven cases of botulism in France. All of these people had eaten at the same restaurant.
