If you find a lot of hair in the shower or on your brush in the morning, don’t panic! On average, we have between 100,000 and 150,000 hairs on our heads. We can usually lose up to 100 a day without worrying.
And during seasonal hair loss, that is, in autumn and spring, this figure can sometimes increase up to 400 hairs per day.
a natural phenomenon
In fact, the hair life cycle is made up of three phases. The anagen phase, in which hair grows for two to seven years, then the catagen phase, a transition period of a few weeks in which the follicle shrinks, and finally a telogen phase, with hair loss that lasts two to three months.
Starting in July we have more hair that enters the telogen phase, that is, the shedding phase. Therefore, hair loss is a completely natural phenomenon.
However, physical stress (general anesthesia, accident, etc.) can influence and accelerate the fall. Regarding physiological stress, these effects are marginal and it is not a direct factor.
Beyond this natural appearance, hair loss can be chronic: we then speak of alopecia, which can affect both men and women.
