Figures in clear decline. The winter vaccination campaign against Covid-19 has been open in France since October 15. However, data communicated by the Minister of Health to the regional press, including Le Parisien, show that since that date many fewer people have been vaccinated compared to previous years.
In fact, only about 2 million people have received a dose of the Covid-19 vaccine since the start of the campaign.
“Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself (…), especially in severe forms: it is not too late,” launched Public Health France in its weekly bulletin monitoring acute respiratory infections, this Tuesday, December 4.
30% of people aged 65 or older were vaccinated last year
Anyone who wishes can get vaccinated against Covid-19. “It is essential to recommend vaccination to all eligible people to protect them and those around them,” writes Public Health France.
Vaccination is recommended, 57.2% of those over 65 years of age had been vaccinated again as of December 1. years, people with a chronic disease, immunosuppressed, people with severe obesity and pregnant women.
“Vaccination is also recommended for people close to these vulnerable people (family members, home help, etc.), as well as health professionals,” health authorities remind. According to Le Parisien, the target population includes almost 20 million inhabitants.
According to Health Insurance, at the end of the last autumn-winter vaccination campaign, 30.2% of people aged 65 and over had received a dose. For now, this year we are still far from these figures.
By contrast, in the United Kingdom, 57.2% of those over 65 were vaccinated again on December 1.
“We still have time to get vaccinated before the holidays”
Covid-19 continues to cause serious forms in France. Between November 25 and December 1, 267 people over 65 were hospitalized after a trip to the emergency room due to Covid, Public Health France reports.
“People who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 among patients admitted to the intensive care unit were mainly people aged 65 years or older and not vaccinated,” the organization underlines.
It is possible to get vaccinated at your GP, a pharmacy, a nurse or a midwife. In addition, vaccination is 100% covered by Health Insurance for the entire population.
“Since the vaccination is effective about 15 days after the injection, there is still time to get vaccinated before the holidays,” specifies the ARS of Hauts-de-France.
