“Each Junge brings us closer to victory.” As is the case for 21 years, the Curie Institute, a French center for the fight against cancer, is launching its annual solidarity campaign to give donations for research against this disease.
“By participating in the campaign, a jaw against cancer, you support the work of researchers and caregivers of the Curie Institute who work daily to offer patients the best healing possibilities making considerable progress in the fight against this disease,” is indicated at the site of this operation.
“It’s an opportunity to have light therapy”
The emphasis is put in particular in rare cases of cancer, which refer to 70,000 cases of the 400,000 patients detected annually. Among them, the Uveal Melanoma, the unusual cancer of the eye, which was the victim in 2017 Soazic Aucouturier.
“It started with light flashes that appeared in front of my left eye. I was diagnosed by uveal melanoma, weird cancer that was a shock, a total agitation,” said BFMTV, this patient, affected by this disease that affects 500 people in France annually.
It was at the Curis Institute that the patient was treated through therapy applied directly to his eye. “It is a radioactive album directly in contact with the tumor. I stayed in a protected room, because I was a bit radioactive, for eight days,” he adds.
During the seven years after this treatment, Soazic’s disease was gradually, but, last year, during the controls, injuries were identified in their liver and required a new therapy.
“Research is clearly progressing”
“I have all my little cancer injuries that decrease is excellent. What encourages me to be positive and continue to believe that it is an investigation. I tell myself that it evolves very quickly and that it is an opportunity to have a light therapy,” he insists.
Thanks to donations, the tests refer to uveal melanoma should be launched this year.
“The research is clearly progressing. It is very important since a patient who occurs in the future with a tumor at the eye level, we can consider treatments to reduce the tumor and preserve the eye as much as possible and the treatment to reduce the risk of metastasis,” they conclude, always in BFMTV, Dr. Manuel Rodrigues, the medical oncologist and the search for the Institute at the Curie Institute.
Until March 23, it is now possible to make a donation through the UnjonquillaContrelecancer.fr.
