Mysterious disorders affect certain employees of the Grenoble University Hospital. An agent of the Institute of Biology and Pathology (IBP) of the Grenoble Alpes Chu filed a complaint against its administration this Friday, April 4 for “voluntary administration of harmful substance”, “involuntary injuries” and “exhibition of others with an immediate risk of injuries,” said his lawyer on Monday.
Since 2019, IBP employees “have been victims of Malaysia and Ent disorders whose origin is still unknown,” said Maître Hervé Gerbi in a press release. “Despite several advanced hypotheses, such as chemical fumes or ventilation problems, to date a specific cause has not been identified,” he adds.
“Burning Eyes”, “Headache”
The agent who filed a complaint against the CHU testified to RTL, saying that he was “very afraid” for his health. “I had headaches, fatigue, dizziness, my throat is scratching me, eyes that bite me. Every day, we have agents that fall, who feel very bad. We call firefighters, they end up in the emergency room, it is terrible,” he described.
Some agents told BFMTV on Monday. “We don’t feel very good, we have burning eyes, our throat burns us … sometimes we have discomfort. Then headache, all the time,” said an employee.
“I had, personally, my tongue that lasts, headaches, a lot of fatigue and then burning eyes,” said another agent.
Hospital management does not find the origin of these disorders. “We have conducted many investigations and we really can’t know where it comes from,” Chu’s general director, Monique Sorrantino, told RTL.
An “emergency”
According to Maître Hervé Gerbi, “almost 70 agents” exercised their right of retirement on Thursday, “testifying the urgency of acting.” “For the other agents, management has been established, when possible, teleworking or organized a system of ‘displacement’ and floors of floors according to air quality measurements,” adds the lawyer.
But now he considers “necessary” to seize justice “, shed light on these repeated incidents and guarantee the protection of all agents.” The minister responsible for health and access to care, Yannick Neuder, talked about this problem during a visit to the Grenoble University Hospital on Friday, according to the Dauphiné I will free, saying “know” this file.
“Ars and health organizations do health surveys and activate research to see if there is a causal link” between ozone and evils, he said.
