Until now, the initial prescription of these medications had to be performed by a doctor specialized in endocrinology-diabetology-nutrition. However, renovations could be made by any doctor.
The National Medicines Agency (ANSM) announced this Friday, June 20 that any doctor can prescribe, in the beginning as in renewal, the GLP-1 Wegovy (Sémaglutide) drugs, Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) and Saxenda (Liraglutida) to treat obesity, starting June 23.
“This measure aims to facilitate more equitable access to these treatments, available only in prescription,” justifies the ANSM in a press release.
