French monks forced to cancel a birthday due to a COVVI-19 cluster

In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, a community of monks was affected by several cases of COVID-19, which forced him to cancel festivities.

They had to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of their community. A COVVI-19 cluster was detected in Monks in Belloc, in the URT commune, in Pyrées-Atlantiques, reports the newspaper La République des Pyréses this Monday, September 1.

Several community members hired the virus, confirmed the diocese to local media. Due to this group, the monks were forced to cancel the 150th anniversary of the foundation of their Belloc community.

The festivities would take place on August 31 and September 1, at the Bastide-Clairence church, south of Urt. The birthday must postpone at a later date, said the monastery in its press release.

“Several members of the Benedictine Belloc community who had hired Covvid, the celebrations scheduled for Sunday, August 31 and this Monday, September 1, the dates are not yet solved. Thank you for your understanding,” he said.

COVID-19 cases increase

This contamination of monks to COVID-19 occurs when the health authorities highlight a slight increase in hospitalizations in August, after several months without wave epidemic.

In its National Bulletin, Public Health France informs an increase in emergency passes for COVID-19 in adults, especially for those over 75.
