The Medication Security Agency (ANSM) announced, this Thursday, September 11, to have taken legal procedures to end illegal sales and internet advertising of the products presented as treatments against obesity (AGLP-1), very popular in social networks.
“The sale and promotion without authorization of AGLP-1 drugs on the Internet is illegal. The products sold can be falsified and endanger the health of the people who use them,” alerts the health agency that specifies that this illicit commercial phenomenon refers to all of Europe.
These medications indicated in the treatment of diabetes and/or obesity, marketed under the names of Ozempic or Wogovy (active substance: Semaglutida), Saxnda or Victaza (Liraglutida), Trulicity (Dreamaglutide) or Mounjaro (Tirzepatid), with recipe, are sold.
However, in France, only medications for more of the co -seal can be sold online, only by authorized pharmacies there. Only reference is made to 838 French pharmacies as an online sales activity of optional medical prescription medications. AGLP-1 drugs are only legally sold in the form of injector pens, but circulate online in several ways, including patches.
A “twenty reports”
“To end these illegal sales activities, the ANSM seized, in April 2025, the prosecutor” and made “about twenty reports regarding a dozen commercial sites” on the Pharos portal of the Ministry of Interior, which makes it possible to declare illegal content on the Internet, according to the press release.
Justice has been seized “for the prosecution to be dedicated to sites that carry out online sales activities for the title, in particular, of the illegal exercise of the pharmacy, as well as for the fraudulent use of the ANSM logos”, and to sanction the diffusion in France of the unauthorized advertisements with the general public in favor of these medications, the agency specifies.
“In parallel, the health police measures aimed at prohibiting advertising and any online sale form of the products in question is underway with a dozen online sales platforms,” added the medication surveillance tower, without mentioning them. Electronic commerce has led to the proliferation of unregulated sites, which facilitates the development of a global market for illicit medicines.
