A man infected with Rage dies at the Perpignan hospital, an epidemiological investigation in progress

At the Perpignan Hospital, a man in about thirty years, returned from a stay in Morocco, died of anger on Thursday, September 25, a week after admission. The establishment opened an epidemiological study to determine the circumstances of the infection.

A week after admission to Perpignan Chu, a man died of anger on Thursday, September 25, learns BFMTV from the hospital, confirming information from The Independent.

The patient, a gardener of about thirty years, had scans in the back when he returned from a trip to Morocco according to the same media, and could have been bitten or scratched by an animal during his stay.

“In France, transmission in the territory is not known. Cases refer to strange, not vaccinated animals, which came from other countries,” said BFMTV Damien Tomasso, general practitioner.

The anger, recalls Dr. Damien Tomasso, is transmitted by “bite” but also by contact with mucous membranes, for example, “a wound lined by an animal.”

An epidemiological study in Progreso

Although anger is not transmitted from man to man, Perpignan’s Chu told BFMTV that caregivers who were in charge of the patient were vaccinated as caution.

And to add that “an epidemiological study is being carried out to identify the origin of the virus and the contamination methods that could be associated with it.”

In Continental France, the last case of listed anger dates back to 2023, in the Chu in Reims. A woman had been admitted to resuscitation after being injured by a cat in a Maghreb country.

Every year, the disease causes around 60,000 dead worldwide, mainly in the African and Asian continents. On the other hand, fatal cases remain very rare in France.
