Is vasectomy becoming more democratic? Previously taboo, this contraceptive surgical procedure is gaining popularity among French men.
According to figures from the Health Insurance, when this operation was authorized in the country in 2010, that year some 1,908 reimbursed vasectomies had been performed. In 2021, this figure was multiplied by 12 to now reach 23,300.

The Department of Health insists that a vasectomy is not effective immediately after the operation is complete. During this period, it is advisable to use another method of contraception.
Some specialists, including Vincent Hupertan, also offer the possibility of performing a no-scalpel vasectomy, an even less invasive and innovative method that is increasingly popular.
