A 91-year-old man died on April 12 in the emergency room of Grenoble University Hospital, after waiting three days in a hospital bed for a place in geriatrics, reports France Bleu. When he arrived at the establishment, his vital prognosis was not compromised, the doctors only evoked a state of confusion linked to his age.
However, lying for 72 hours would have worsened his condition. In the ranks of the CHU, the death of the man is even more difficult to accept because it is the third since December 2022.
As France Bleu recalls, a 47-year-old woman died late last year in the emergency toilets. Shortly after, a second patient had lost his life within the walls of the establishment.
A report for the prosecutor
With the figaroSara Fernández, general secretary of the CGT at the CHU in Grenoble, affirms that “patients are in danger” after the closure of 200 beds in the hospital during the last three years.
A complaint was made to the public prosecutor of Grenoble, for “endangering the lives of others”. But for unionists, so far there has been no significant change that would allow for better patient care.
