Put an end to “shunts.” The director of Public Assistance-Hospitals of Marseille (AP-HM) François Crémieux calls this Sunday at the JDD to an effective departure of Didier Raoult, controversial emeritus professor at the IHU Méditerranée, on which the AP-HM depends. Professor Raoult, former director of the IHU, published a pre-publication in April extolling the unrecognized benefits of using hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19 positive patients.
“Professor Raoult must definitely leave the IHU and allow his successor to work calmly”, calls François Crémieux.
He assures that he will formally “request” the current president of the IHU Emmanuelle Prada-Bordenave.
“Professor Raoult is damaging the reputation of the IHU”, denounces the director of the AP-HM, lamenting that the doctor, already retired, continues to have a “work desk” at the IHU that he ‘directed’.
A study signed by the controversial professor Didier Raoult and seven co-authors and in which more than 30,000 people who tested positive for Covid have participated concludes that the administration of hydroxychloroquine (or ivermectin) reduced patient mortality. It was left unpublished at the request of the AP-HM on Saturday.
“Not surprised” by platform directed at Raoult
François Crémieux condemns in particular the publication of the preprint of a study on hydroxychloroquine co-signed by the controversial professor, but recalls that it was not published on Saturday, “attesting to our desire to restore trust”.
Accused in a tribune of World Published at the end of May and signed by 16 scientific medical societies for having carried out a “giant wild clinical trial”, Professor Raoult is once again in the spotlight, after becoming one of the controversial faces of the Covid pandemic -19.
The director of the AP-HP does not say he is “surprised” by the comments made by this forum and recalls that Didier Raoult “claims” the treatment of Covid with hydroxychloroquine.
A doctor who “went astray with deleterious handling”
François Crémieux incidentally deplores the promotion of this treatment, which, he recalls, “has no health benefit.”
“Professor Raoult helped to sow that doubt throughout the crisis” about the usefulness of certain treatments and vaccines and to “deceive” many patients, accuses the director of the AP-HM.
However, refusing to fall for the caricature, François Crémieux believes that “many fantasies” have been transmitted about Didier Raoult, whom he describes as a doctor who “lost himself with deleterious management” and many “referrals”.
“How have our institutions, in particular the AP-HM, been able to let the scientific project of the IHU drift, resulting in the intellectual, scientific and above all ethical deviation of Professor Raoult?”, he wonders, however, before reply. partly by arguing that the doctor had managed to evacuate “all debate and all counter-power” within the IHU.
Sanction “those who exonerate themselves from all ethics”
Regarding the monitoring of this case, François Crémieux assures that the IHU “cooperates with justice” in the investigations carried out and is willing to take “useful disciplinary sanctions in relation to the investigations in progress.”
“Those who take advantage of their academic freedom and exonerate themselves from any ethics or abuse their functions must be punished,” he wishes.
Aim? Avoid new deviations and “recover lost excellence” at the IHU Méditerrannée for François Crémieux.
