The president of the republic said on Friday that he had been informed of the stopover in Budapest by the prime minister to attend the Europa League football final between Sevilla and Roma, the Italian team led by Jose Mourinho.
“The prime minister went to an international meeting and understood that he had to give Jose Mourinho a hug.” emphasized Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to journalists, on the sidelines of an event in Seixal, Setúbal.
The Observador newspaper reported that António Costa made a stopover in Budapest on May 31, on his way to Moldova for the European Political Community summit, without the event being scheduled.
According to the same newspaper, the head of the Portuguese government traveled in a Falcon 50 belonging to the Portuguese Air Force and watched the match at Puskás Arena, together with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
In the final, which was decided on penalties, the Spaniards won from Seville against Roma (4-1, after 1-1).
