The PSD withdrew the request and asked for an urgent parliamentary hearing with the former director of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine of the Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Norte (CHLN), Diogo Ayres de Campos, and the board of directors of the same center.
The information was passed on to Lusa by PSD parliamentary leader Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, who justified the withdrawal of the request as “unprepared” to hold a preliminary hearing on the issue.
The request was signed by the Health Commission’s deputy and PSD coordinator, Rui Cristina, and by deputies Pedro Melo Lopes and João Dias Coelho, advocating the need for “a complete clarification of the circumstances of this exemption” from Diogo Ayres de Campos.
According to a CHLN note released Monday, the management of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine has taken positions that have “repeatedly questioned the work project and the collaboration process with Hospital São Francisco Xavier, during the work on the new maternity hospital at HSM [Hospital Santa Maria]”.
The leadership of this department will be ensured on an interim basis by Alexandre Valentim Lourenço, director of the Gynecology Department CHLN, “while the normal process takes place that will lead to a permanent appointment to these positions,” the note says. .
