Marcelo will meet the Council of State on Friday

The president of the republic will meet with the Council of State on Friday at 3 p.m. to discuss the country’s economic, social and political situation, after hearing the parties with parliamentary seats between Friday and Monday.

This meeting of the Council of State – which Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa had already indicated would take place after Thursday’s parliamentary debate on the state of the nation – was officially announced this Tuesday through a message on the official website of the presidency of the republic on the internet.

“The President of the Republic will meet the Council of State on July 21 at 3 p.m. at the Palace of Belém. The meeting will deal with the analysis of the economic, social and political situation in Portugal,” the note reads.

Last week, the head of state admitted to bringing the subject of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on Political Guardianship Administration TAP to this meeting of his political consultative body: “I will read the report and, if I have any business on this, to say: I will tell first to the Council of State”.

“And after I tell the Council of State, depending on what I say or not say to the Council of State, I will say it publicly,” the president of the republic added.
