IL. Interruption Council of State shows the impact of the government “that leaves everything in the middle”

The leader of the Liberal Initiative said on Saturday that the interruption of the Council of State meeting on Friday is an example of the socialist government’s impact in the country, in which “everything is halfway”.

“I believe that the Council of State was interrupted for what was communicated. Apparently the Prime Minister had to travel and was therefore unable to finalize in the end.

“And the Council of State is, in fact, nothing else. That has been António Costa’s contribution: to interrupt growth, to interrupt discussion, to interrupt the development of the country. What happened yesterday at the Council of State is a good example,” added the IL leader, who spoke to journalists at the market of Livramento, in Setúbal.

When asked about TAP’s investigative committee, the president of IL classified the final report as “a farce”.

“Everyone saw what happened. However much the report that the PS wanted to present, and which it only approved, tried to create an alternative version of the facts. But the Portuguese saw what happened in the investigative committee TAP and that is why these conclusions were drawn. The report was a farce.

“What needs to be known now is whether or not TAP will be privatized, under what conditions, with whom, and what the future of TAP is. That is what needs to be clarified urgently at this point. And again, the Prime Minister is not responding, whether it’s the report, or what happened in the TAP Commission of Inquiry, or the future of TAP. But that’s a peculiarity of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is not responding, or if he does, he’s lying,” he said.

During the visit to Setúbal, as part of the IL Rotas Liberais initiative, Rui Rocha also referred to the situation in the Ministry of Defense, which led to the resignation of Secretary of State Marco Capitão Ferreira, which he said was “a very badly told story”.

“The Liberal Initiative has said from the very beginning, long ago, that Marco Capitão Ferreira was not a suitable person to be in government. Still, the insistence to bring him into government – now we know under what conditions.

“It seems that Alberto Coelho was in charge of the defense and not Minister Cravinho. Well, we cannot have a minister who is successively overtaken by events, who lets himself be manipulated, who gets involved, especially not in such dubious stories,” said Rui Rocha.

The IL leader therefore does not understand why António Costa insists on keeping some ministers involved in controversies in the government, such as João Cravinho, but also João Galamba and Maria do Céu Antunes.

“How can a prime minister run the country if he can’t lead his team? How can he have people so questionable, so fragile, involved in such shady processes, insisting on keeping these people in his government?” he wondered.
