Two leaders from a time when PSD and CDS ruled together – respectively Durão Barroso and Paulo Portas. The two will be the main stars of another edition of the PSD Summer University, as usual in Castelo de Vide, organized as usual by MEP Carlos Coelho, this time from August 28 to September 3.
It is possible that somehow the President of the Republic will be present again, but there is no certainty: “I am not able to guarantee 100% that he will participate, but I am convinced that he will participate,” he said. The list of guest speakers also includes the names of the socialist who presides over Sedes, Álvaro Beleza, the former vice-president of the CDS-PP Cecília Meireles, the president of the regional government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque – who is now campaigning for re-election at the regional elections, scheduled for September 25 – and also the writer Margarida Rebelo Pinto. José Manuel Durão Barroso, former PSD leader, Prime Minister and President of the European Commission between 2004 and 2014, will speak about Europe and the world: challenges and perspectives.
According to information passed on to Agência Lusa, personalities such as the Director of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, Óscar Afonso, PSD Vice President António Leitão Amaro, Councilor of the House of the City Council of Lisbon, Filipa Roseta or the ex – president of the Order of Physicians, Miguel Guimarães.
PSD First Vice-President and MEP Paulo Rangel and the president of the party’s National Jurisdiction Council, José Matos Correia, will debate lowering the minimum voting age to 16. “There is a very wide range of classes, conference dinners, more technical workshops, with more concrete learning, or simulation of editing and group work, because it is eight very intense days, from morning to evening, with a large number of activities ” emphasized Carlos Coelho.
The event will be closed by Luís Montenegro, in a sort of 2nd PSD rentrée, after the event scheduled for the promenade of Quarteira (Festa do Pontal) on the 14th.
