The PS expects to spend €400,000 during the campaign for regional parliamentary elections in Madeira on September 24, the highest amount of the 13 competing political forces, according to budgets consulted by Lusa.

Lusa has also questioned the ECFP about the consequences for the party of non-delivery within the deadline, namely in terms of monetary penalties, but has received no response so far.

Questioned by Lusa, the press office of the party’s national structure indicated that the list of candidates and the proposed campaign budget were handed over to the Constitutional Court (TC) on August 9. The Political Accounts and Financing Entity works together with the TC.

Chega’s leader in Madeira, Miguel Castro, was also unsuccessfully contacted, who handed over the list to the Funchal court on August 10.

According to Lusa’s accounts, the 10 parties and the two coalitions whose budgets have been published expect to spend a total of €1,133,816.95 during the campaign, which runs from September 10 to 22, and MPT estimates to spend no amountsimilar to what happened in the 2019 election.

17 political forces have competed in previous regional legislatures, with an estimated total campaign expenditure of €1.3 million.

That year, the PS also led the planned expenditures, with 370 thousand euros, followed by the PSD, with 360 thousand euros, and the Alliantie, with 140 thousand euros, a party that will not be voting this year.

According to the available budgets on the ECFP website, the PS estimates that it will spend a total of 400,000 euros, of which 200,000 euros will be spent on rallies and shows, 70,000 euros on advertising, print and digital communication and 46,000 euros on gifts and offers, for example.

PSD and CDS-PP, which are running together this year, foresee a total expenditure of 380,000 euros, including 100,000 euros for rallies and shows, 90,000 euros for advertising, printed and digital communication and 75,000 euros for gifts. .

The third political force with the highest campaign budget is the CDU, with 110,000 euros, followed by the JPP, with 96,000, the IL, with 60,000, the BE, with 42,717.85, the PAN, with 30,099.10, ADN, with 8,000 , Livre, 3,500, RIR, with 2,000, PTP, with 1,500.

Of the 11 parties and the two coalitions that submitted lists for this election, only Livre is competing for the first time in the regional elections of Madeira.

The last regional parliamentary elections took place on 22 September 2019.

In this election, 16 parties and a coalition competed in one constituency for the 47 seats in the Parliament of Madeira: PSD, PS, CDS-PP, JPP, BE, Chega, IL, PAN, PDR, PTP, PNR, Aliança, Partido da Terra – MPT, PCTP/MRPP, PURP, RIR and CDU (PCP/PEV).

In an autonomous region with 257,967 inhabitants, 143,190 voters voted.

At the time, the PSD lost for the first time an absolute majority in the Regional Legislative Assembly of Madeira, which it had held since 1976, electing 21 deputies, and formed a coalition government with the CDS-PP (three deputies). thus ensuring the two absolute majority parties in the regional hemisphere.

The PS elected 19 deputies, the JPP three and the PCP one.

The regional executive is currently led by Miguel Albuquerque (PSD).
