The President of the Republic is going to visit Ukraine. The trip was confirmed through an authorization request sent to Parliament, which was received on Tuesday.
Constitutionally, it is the Assembly of the Republic that authorizes the travels of the President.
According to Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s request to Augusto Santos Silva, President of the Parliament, the visit will begin next Tuesday and end this Friday, the 25th.
On Sunday, the head of state – who was on an official visit to Poland – had already left the possibility of a visit to the country in the air. Without revealing exactly when, for security reasons, Marcelo then said: “I would like to [de ir] in the sense that an invitation was made long ago by President Zelensky. It is clear that I would very much like to have this opportunity, also because the relationship with the Ukrainian president was very good from the moment he was elected.”
