An obsession”. Mathilde Panot, leader of the rebel deputies, criticized on X (ex-Twitter) Gabriel Attal’s policy towards Muslims, after the Minister of National Education announced this Sunday afternoon the ban on the Abaya at school.
The Val-de-Marne deputy first nicknamed the macronista “Gabriel Ciotti” to compare him with the far-right president of the Les Républicains party, who considered that this decision gave “reason” to his formation.
“Clothing Police”
Later, Mathilde Panot addressed:
“His obsession? Muslims. Specifically, Muslim women.”
A reaction to the image of his field, which unanimously criticized the measure proposed by the boss of the rue de Grenelle, denouncing in particular a “clothing police”.
However, the left does not fully speak with one voice on the issue. The socialist deputy Jérome Guedj thus considered that the ban on the abaya is necessary “from the moment” or “it is carried out in an ostentatious dimension”.
His colleague Michaël Delafosse, mayor of the PS in Montpellier and a regular critic of the rebels, considered that this decision is “a very important signal that must be [faire] consensus”.
