An anniversary party without its founder. The National Group (RN), formerly the National Front (FN), celebrates 50 years in the National Assembly this Thursday. A symposium was organized in the absence of the creator of the far-right political formation, Jean-Marie Le Pen, who was not invited.
“I take on the entire history of my movement with its happy victories and foundational defeats,” Jordan Bardella responded to CNews on Thursday.
However, the MEP made an effort to distance himself from the denial statements of the former finalist in the 2002 presidential elections. “Obviously, I do not share them,” said Jordan Bardella. Jean-Marie Le Pen notably stated in 1987 that the gas chambers were a “point of detail in the history of World War II”.
“Nothing to do with the National Front”
The National Association wants to turn the page on its past and set its sights on the 2027 presidential elections, presenting itself as the ruling party.
“We are talking about a generation that, without measure, has nothing to do with the National Front and that is normal because the world is changing,” Jordan Bardella highlights at first.
Before that, he claims that people from “all political currents” are joining the far-right formation. A way for him to emphasize that the party has changed. Jordan Bardella, however, shares a good point for the FN, a match that according to him has “given back to the French the pride of being French”.
