From Orange, in the Vaucluse, Emmanuel Macron went back to school this Friday. Asked by journalists about the controversy surrounding the ban on the abaya in schools, he said he wanted to be “intractable” in the face of attacks on secularism, “the very condition that makes citizenship possible.”
He also says that he is at the side of those in charge of the establishments and of the teachers, who “should never be left alone in the face of the pressures that are exerted in this matter”. To back up his argument, he announced the creation of “specific staff for high schools and universities, along with staff from institutions and teachers.”
