Attal announces that 298 students presented themselves in abaya for the start of the school year and 67 refused to take it off

The day after the start of the school year, Gabriel Attal takes stock of the application of the ban on the abaya in schools decided by the government. This Monday, “298 people” showed up at schools in this traditional long dress, explains the Minister of National Education on BFMTV-RMC.

“There was then this whole phase of explanations, dialogue, pedagogy, and a large majority complied with the norm”, continues the new boss of Rue de Grenelle, specifying that 67 people refused, however, to remove their abaya. In accordance with the new regulations in force, “they returned home”, explains Gabriel Attal.

“In the next few days they will return and then we will see if they have complied with the norm or not,” he said. Otherwise, “there will be a new dialogue.”
