The PSD announced this Wednesday that it will hold parliamentary days in parliament on October 16 and 17 devoted to the next state budget, and confirmed a debate devoted to discussing its tax cut proposals for September 20.
At the end of the Conference of Parliamentary Leaders, Vice President of the PSD Group Hugo Carneiro highlighted the already announced potestative debate for the 20th on the package of tax cut proposals announced by the party in mid-August.
“He highlighted among the proposals the reduction of the IRS by 1,200 million euros as early as 2023 and another reduction of a maximum IRS rate for young people of 15% from 2024,” he said.
The package, which should not be voted on until the Friday after the discussion, Sept. 22, includes — in addition to the IRS rate cuts that continue this year at all but the last — the mandatory update of the IRS levels. due to inflation, a mechanism for parliament to decide what to do with the budget surplus and exemption from IRS and TSU for productivity bonuses worth up to 6% of annual base salary.
When asked if the PSD will allow other parties to ‘drag’ proposals into the debate, the deputy replied in the affirmative.
“The discussion about tax cuts is too important to speak of a blockade,” he defended.
The parliamentary days dedicated to the Budget will take place, as has happened in recent years, after the presentation of the proposal by the government and in the Assembly of the Republic.
Leaders’ conference spokeswoman, PS deputy Maria da Luz Rosinha, confirmed that the document will be presented on October 10, with the calendar for parliamentary discussion still to be set at the next leaders’ conference.
