Marcelo resolves conflict with Costa

The president of the republic on Wednesday ruled out the possibility that António Costa’s silence at the last meeting of the Council of State was due to a conflict between the two main figures of Portuguese democracy. “If the prime minister was silent, it wasn’t because of an argument with the president of the republic,” Marcelo assured.

Moments earlier, António Costa had responded to the allegations of the leader of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, who described the prime minister’s silence at the Council of State meeting as a pout in light of Marcelo’s veto of the housing law.

“Anyone who knows me knows I don’t like mugs,” Costa concluded.

There was no sulking for the President of the Republic either. “I heard the Prime Minister deny the news on Monday, according to which his silence was against the President of the Republic. I had read this news, I was surprised by it, but I understand that it was clear to him that it was about that. ” concluded Marcelo.
