Gérald Darmanin wants members of the Government to take precautions, taking into account the “exceptional context” of next week. The Minister of the Interior asked his colleagues, this Wednesday in the Council of Ministers, to limit his travel between September 18 and 24, as BFMTV learned, thus confirming RTL’s information.
Reason given: a very busy schedule, between the Rugby World Cup, Pope Francis’ visit to Marseille and King Charles III’s trip to France.
“It’s not a big surprise”
Gérald Darmanin is starting “the beginning of a great sequence for him, with a lot of work ahead of him, which we must not lose”, a participant in the Council of Ministers confides to BFMTV. Another tells us that the boss of Place Beauvau did not present his announcement as a ban. This is not about saying “no one should move”, but rather a strong incentive to limit travel as much as possible that week.
In any case, some ministers had already organized themselves due to the risk of less media exposure. “I had already seen with my office how to adapt to this situation,” one of them explains to BFMTV, before continuing: “The Minister of the Interior is in his role of preparation and anticipation. There is not much surprise…”.
