“My word is worth more and more”: Roussel against a single left-wing candidacy in 2027

Fabien Roussel continues to chart his course. If the option of a single left-wing candidacy for the next presidential elections is unanimous among his partners, the national secretary of the PCF rejects this scenario for the moment. Releasewhile highlighting its singularities.

Fabien Roussel, who has never had a reek of sanctity towards his Nupes partners, is not willing to patch things up with them. The national secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF) says “no”, in Releaseto a joint candidacy of this left-wing alliance for the next presidential elections in 2027.

“This is a project for France,” the Northern deputy justifies to the newspaper, before elaborating: “I do not support the discourse of degrowth. We must build homes, nurseries, hospitals, build Lyon-Turin lines… And to rebuild our economy, investment in nuclear energy is the key point”.

Accumulation of controversies

Fabien Roussel defends his “right” to “defend such a project in the presidential elections with all those who wish to do so.” The communist assures in the process not to do “any [s]”No one has any problems.”

“If it’s someone else, it’s someone else,” he says.

The parliamentarian continues his path towards independence that began in 2018. That year, he was elected at the head of his party under the sign of a break with the rebels, behind whom the communists had aligned themselves during the 2012 Elysee Games. and 2017.

Since then, relations have not really evolved in the right direction. The solo candidacy of Fabien Roussel and his 2.28%, during the 2022 presidential elections, remains at the throat of the rebels and their leader, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who only obtained about 400,000 votes in the second round.

Rebels hit back

Without a doubt, the legislative elections have allowed Bring together the four leftist forces under the same flag.. But Fabien Roussel never agreed to get married. Controversies have accumulated since the creation of the coalition. And the head of the PCF often has something to do with it.

If the rebels, whom he gleefully criticizes, initially avoided returning the favor, that time has passed. This is demonstrated by the long list of responses from the latter, after Fabien Roussel called this Wednesday to “invade” the prefectures to protest against inflation.

“This violent initiative is purely personal. It has not been discussed anywhere, not even in the PCF. Therefore, I think it would be unreasonable to associate with it given the violence that would be implied in this total lack of preparation,” rebuked Jean- Luc Melenchon.

“My word is worth more and more”

Inside ReleaseFabien Roussel is not far behind. “We should be able to discuss within the Nupes and it is very difficult. For the rebels, it is either being together in all the elections or nothing. It is not my vision, so it is a shame,” he says. Unless there is a big surprise, his party will go alone to the European elections, as will the socialists and environmentalists, much to the dismay of the rebels.

But, unlike the PCF, the EELV and the PS continue to advocate for a single candidacy of the left in 2027. Fabien Roussel is confident.

“I have the feeling that my words have more and more strength, they are beginning to bear fruit,” he enthuses.

The native of Béthune, in Pas-de-Calais, will have the opportunity to sing this chorus once again on the occasion of the Humanity Festival which is being celebrated this weekend and promises to be under very high tension.
