Suicide of a teenager in Poissy: Elisabeth Borne denounces a “shocking” letter from the rectorate to parents

The Prime Minister spoke about harassment this Saturday in Matignon, on the sidelines of the European Heritage Days.

“A failure in the type of response.” On the sidelines of the European Heritage Days in Matignon, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne denounced a “shocking” letter sent in May by the rectorate of Versailles to the parents of Nicolas, the teenager who committed suicide in Poissy at the beginning of September.

In a letter, the latter had alerted his establishment of acts of harassment. In response, the rectorate asked them to “adopt a constructive and respectful attitude,” reminding them of the risks in the event of a slanderous complaint.

“There was a failure in the type of response sent to concerned parents,” the Prime Minister acknowledged. It is shocking. The inspection will allow us to see under what circumstances a letter so far removed from the families’ pain could have been addressed. “.

“We need to be more attentive to the words of children. This requires the training of all adults who may be in contact with these children so that they understand the difficulty, the pain they can feel. The objective is that this does not happen again and that all those involved are trained,” added Elisabeth Borne.

The head of Government plans to launch an anti-bullying plan to combat this type of situation in the school environment.
