Montenegro says there will be no government solution with Chega

The PSD leader declared this Sunday that with Chega’s contribution there will be no government solution in Madeira and took full responsibility for the results of the Social Democrats in the regional elections.

“There will be no government solution in Madeira that has Chega’s contribution. And I want to tell you that what will or could happen in Madeira is the same thing that will or could happen in the country. It’s the same to say that We are not going to govern Madeira and the country with Chega’s support because we don’t need it.”Luís Montenegro emphasized.

The PSD president was speaking in Madeira after the PSD/CDS coalition failed to gain an absolute majority (24 deputies) in today’s elections for the regional parliament.

Speaking to journalists, Montenegro also said that the election results were “all fully accepted by him,” stressing, however, that he was “very satisfied” with the votes he obtained in the parliamentary elections.

“As far as the conditions for governability are concerned, it is up to me to say that we are a party that values autonomy, both from the point of view of governance and from the point of view of internal functioning.”declared the PSD leader, emphasizing that he will not “directly interfere with the decisions belonging to the PSD/Madeira and its leader”, Miguel Albuquerque.
