Madeira: Chega believes that the agreement between PSD, CDS and PAN is a “profound betrayal” of the right

Chega’s president on Tuesday accused PSD and CDS-PP of “profound betrayal” of the right for signing a parliamentary advocacy agreement with the PAN in Madeira, believing that “anything goes” to stay in power.

‘This agreement is a profound betrayal of the right’the Chega leader said at a press conference at the party’s national headquarters in Lisbon, after it was announced that the PSD/CDS-PP coalition has signed a parliamentary influence agreement with the PAN that will allow an absolute majority in Wood’s parliament .

André Ventura opined that this notion constitutes “one of the most unthinkable figures in the Portuguese political landscape in many decades” and proves that “for the PSD, anything is possible to retain power”.

“This was missing for us to understand how degraded the national political panorama is”he declared, accusing social democrats and centrists of agreeing to “sell their souls to the devil to stay in power.”

Ventura also criticized the leader of the PSD/Madeira and the president of the regional government for not resigning after failing to win an absolute majority, as he said during the campaign he was due to run.

Recalling his past with the PSD, he added: “This agreement hurts me as a former PSD activist and many leaders, deputies and friends I have in the PSD. It is a betrayal of the memory of the PSD, of the memory of the right. .”

The Chega president pointed out that this “last-minute agreement” with a party that “has nothing to do with the basic ideas of the PSD and CDS” is “a blessing for the PS.”

André Ventura also challenged the leaders of the PSD and CDS-PP to comment on this agreement, stating: “I would like to hear from Luís Montenegro and Nuno Melo about this brutal betrayal”.

“No one will be surprised if in other regional elections, or in legislative elections, the PSD understands that it can form a coalition with the PAN, the BE or the PCP for any agreement that avoids governability with Chega”he defended.
