PCP wants to increase the risk subsidy in PSP and GNR to 450 euros

The PCP presented a bill that amends the statutes of the GNR and the PSP, with the aim of risk compensation for the police officers of these security forces current 100 euros to 450 €.

According to the document, which will be discussed in parliament on October 3, the communists claim that “the granting of a risk supplement to professionals of the security forces that meets the dangerousness and deprivation of their functions Maintaining the safety and tranquility of citizens has been a demand of the trade unions and social-professional associations of the PSP and GNR for years.

For communists, the justice of this demand is widely recognized, even by analogy with the status of other security forces who actually receive a decent supplement for the risk of their position,” recalling the “total frustration” when the government set this amount at 100 euros in 2021.”

It is “lack of recognition and reward compensation for the functions performed by security forces and services”, the parliamentary group emphasizes in the explanatory memorandum accompanying this proposal, “is a factor that takes away the attractiveness and prevents the recognition due to them in the exercise of their functions.”

The bill, which would come into effect with the publication of the state budget for 2024consists of awarding an amount of 420 euros on January 1, 2024the evolution of which is expected to occur 450 euros during the year 2024.

We should not forget that the increase in 2021 in the value of 31 euros of this subsidy to 100 euros, paid over 14 months, represented, according to the government accounts at the time, “an annual budgetary impact of 50 million euros, financed by revenues from taxes through the OE”.

About a year ago, during a hearing in parliament, the Trade union of police professionals (ASPP/PSP) had insisted on the need for a phased increase in the risk subsidy to 430 euros by 2024, labeling the increase granted by the government (100 euros) as “an insult”.

The chairman of ASPP, Paulo Santosargued that the hazard pay for police officers “cannot be lower” than that of the Judicial Police (PJ) and the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF), and the union admitted that since there are no conditions for an immediate increase to the desired values , if you run a phased increase of the same: that it rises to 200 euros in 2022, to 300 in 2023 and to 430 euros in 2024.

O union leader stressed that the gradual update of the risk subsidy is essential to “boost the spirit of the police”, warned that “as long as there are no decent pay tables and risk subsidies”, as well as changes in transfer policies and internal mobility of guards, that will it be “difficult to recruit” candidates for the PSPexacerbating the problem of class aging causing a loss of “operational capacity”.
