Traveling to Corsica to discuss the status of the island, the Head of State gave his “full support” to the Government which presented this Wednesday its plan to combat bullying in schools.

“We go much further.” After the announcement of the inter-ministerial plan to fight against bullying, Emmanuel Macron “congratulated” the government that it “is right to show itself to be intractable.”

“It’s very important. The school is a sanctuary. We must protect our children from all risks. I think this is the work we have been doing for 6 years, we already have a lot of things in mobile phones and training,” the president responded to BFMTV at the beginning of his two-day trip to Corsica where he was able to make announcements about possible autonomy for the island.

“General mobilization”

In the afternoon, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne and several of her ministers promised a “general mobilization” and a “relentless fight” against this “massive phenomenon” that is bullying.

“The mobilization must be general: everyone has their role to play. With my entire Government, we are at your side and we will carry out a relentless fight against harassment,” declared Élisabeth Borne, during the presentation press conference.

Empathy courses, confiscation of cell phones in serious cases, exclusion of harassing students on social networks… several measures have been detailed by the executive.

Emmanuel Macron then added: “Above all, families, children and adolescents who suffer bullying must know that they have the support of the entire Republic, of the teaching staff and know that we are at their side.”
