The PAN spokesperson in the Madeira region, Joaquim Sousa, called on Thursday for the dismissal of the party’s national spokesperson, Inês de Suusa Real, for “statutory illegalities” and for participating in the attempt to condition the Regional Political Commission.
“I ask for the removal of Dr. Inês de Sousa Real from the Permanent Political Committee [do PAN]because he does not have the political, ethical or personal conditions to continue representing a party based on empathy, seriousness, the fight against corruption, honesty and not cronyism,” Joaquim Sousa told the Lusa agency.
The PAN/Madeira spokesperson indicated that he will present the resignation of Inês de Sousa Real at the meeting scheduled for this evening, where he will be heard by the PAN management, which proposed his immediate suspension and expulsion from the party.
“I will ask at this meeting that an investigation process be opened with a view to the deportation of Dr. Inês de Sousa Real, for all the damage she has caused the PAN and, above all, for participating in the attempt to condition the PAN into a political commission such as the Regional Policy Commission of Madeira,” said Joaquim Sousa.
Regarding the PAN leadership’s proposal regarding its expulsion from the party, PAN/Madeira spokesperson Inês de Sousa accused Real of “statutory illegalities”, namely in the choice of the list of candidates for the regional elections and in withdrawing of access to email. and PAN social networks.
“Joaquim Sousa asked to participate in the vote that chose the list of candidates for the regional elections and Inês de Sousa Real informed the national political commissioners that Joaquim Sousa had not asked to be heard, which is a lie. […] Inês Sousa Real told the national political commissioners that she was going to call Joaquim Sousa, but until Thursday she never called,” said the president of the PAN/Madeira regional political commission.
Regarding the PAN leadership’s accusations that he “publicly called for non-voting in his own party and had even negotiated and engaged in discussions with other political forces”, Joaquim Sousa rejected all these criticisms cited as justification for his expulsion from the party.
“Joaquim Sousa could have taken part in the elections if he wanted to, because he was invited by other parties, and no, because Joaquim Sousa is not saying here that he is going to the right or to the left. Joaquim Sousa is a member of the PAN because he wants to be a PAN militant. Don’t walk like a yo-yo here: now I go to the right, now I go to the left, as I see fit,” he declared.
The regional spokesperson stated that PAN has always been an opposition party in Madeira and criticized the position of the party leadership: “He decides simply and simply, because there is a bag of lupines to receive, to put the bill back to the nail and deny what the PAN has said in recent years. Why? Because it wants to get in on the game.”
“Joaquim Sousa does not do that, just as he does not cover up the legal illegalities caused by Inês de Sousa Real himself,” he stressed.
Regarding voting in the regional elections, Joaquim Sousa guaranteed that he had not called to vote for any party, but only stated that he “would not vote for PAN”.
“What Joaquim Sousa did was write an opinion article in which he explained why he did not vote for the PAN,” said the spokesperson for PAN/Madeira, who criticized the choice of the list of candidates for the regional elections: “What Dr. Inês de Sousa Real wanted to have someone malleable in the regional parliament of Madeira”.
Referring to the head of the PAN list in the Madeira elections, Mónica Freitas, who was the only elected member of the party, Joaquim Sousa accused her of having a “self-proclaimed president of PAN/Madeira” as she did not have the support received from the regional authorities. vote in the meeting with the representative of the Republic.
On Wednesday, the PAN/Madeira spokesperson admitted that he would resign from his position if the national spokesperson, Inês Sousa Real, does not recognize the illegality of the parliamentary advocacy agreement signed with the PSD/CDS-PP coalition, which held the regional elections without absolute majority has won. majority.
That evening, the PAN National Political Commission approved “by a large majority” the ratification of the parliamentary influence agreement between the party and the PSD in Madeira.
Without going further with his resignation, Joaquim Machado is waiting for the outcome of tonight’s meeting on the proposal for his expulsion from the party.
The coalition formed by PSD and CDS-PP won Sunday’s regional elections in Madeira with 43.13% of the votes, but failed to win an absolute majority, electing 23 out of 47 deputies.
