Chega announced on Monday that it will file a complaint against the government with the Constitutional Court and the Ombudsman “for violation of citizens’ right to health”, and that it plans to hear the executive director of the SNS in parliament.
Speaking to journalists, the Chega president indicated that the party decided this Monday “to proceed with a formal complaint, both to the Constitutional Court and to the Ombudsman, for violation of citizens’ right to health,” as recorded in the Constitution.
On the sidelines of a visit to a kennel in the municipality of Almada (Setúbal district), André Ventura indicated that the complaint will be “against the government and the Minister of Health” and that the party plans to formalize it “next week” . .
“We are working on it. It was an idea that had already been developed by the parliamentary group, at the suggestion of our deputy on the health committee. It is something that we decided to consider when we saw that, despite all unforeseen circumstances, the government simply promotes and artificially prolongs the negotiations”he explained.
The Chega leader believed that there is “a real violation of the right to health” at stake in concluding states of emergency and conditioning services, arguing that “it is important that the courts and the service provider send a signal indicate to the government that this will not be bearable much longer.”
“The government must act, and we are willing to go to any lengths to ensure that the government protects the health of its citizens, which it clearly is not doing in this case.”he indicated.
André Ventura defended that Health Minister Manuel Pizarro is “personally responsible for what is happening”.
“He knows the difficulties we face, it is visible to everyone’s eyes, and the government insists on artificially prolonging the negotiations, on sending new measures to the state budget, while the Portuguese face health problems every day, and that is unbearable.”he insisted.
On the occasion, the Chega president also announced that the party will again propose that the Executive Director of the National Health Service, Fernando Araújo, “urgently convene parliament”, saying that he hopes that the proposal will not be rejected by the PS will be rejected.
Ventura thought so “untenable and incomprehensible that after all this time there are still no articles of association for the board of SNS” is that “we cannot work on what was the only measure taken by the government, the creation of an executive directorate that can look into the SNS”.
Ventura believed that the SNS is going through “one of the most difficult moments” and also pointed out the responsibilities towards BE and PCP, stating that these two parties “They supported a government that made six budgets for six years” and which “shut down healthcare and created many of the problems we have today”.
On the eve of the presentation of the state budget to the Assembly of the Republic, the leader of Chega considered that the proposal “two important areas of investment, housing and healthcare”.
As part of the visit to the Aroeira kennel, Chega’s president argued that the government and municipalities “must do more” to support associations that welcome companion animals.
André Ventura announced that he is preparing a proposal “with which we can combat neglect, but also effectively and harshly criminalize abuse”.
The leader of Chega stated that the constitutional revision “it has already been realized that it will create a new model and paradigm for framing animal abuse and punishment” and thought he would create “a fertile ground for a constitutional basis for a new legislative form in this matter”.
“Regardless of philosophical considerations about animals, there is one thing I think most good people agree on, and that is that animals deserve to be protected and that a society that does not protect its animals is not a good society. We need to make progress in this area. path”he defended.
