Enough wants to hear Pedro Nuno Santos

Chega asked this Saturday that Infrastructure and Housing Minister Pedro Nuno Santos would be heard “urgently” in parliament on the Temacal case, arguing that it “stains” the credibility and suitability of the PS government.

Chega called the emergency minister to parliament today [Pedro Nuno Santos] to explain this matter [Tecmacal] that again affects the credibility and suitability of the government,” party leader André Ventura said in a video message sent to journalists.

For Ventura, it’s important to listen to Pedro Nuno Santos so that what he considered a “sign of illegality” doesn’t drag through time without explanation, following the Observer’s news that a company owned by the minister and his father benefited from a government contract by direct agreement.

However, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing clarified this Saturday that Pedro Nuno Santos is not in an irreconcilable situation in the Temacal case, relying on advice from the Attorney General’s Advisory Council at the request of the government in 2019.

“What is now at stake, as in the previous news, are contracts signed by entities covered by the Code of Public Contracts and Temacal-Equipamentos Industriais, SA, a company whose share of the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing is limited is up to 1% and is less than 50,000 euros, and therefore does not fall under the barrier provided for in paragraph 2 of Article 9 of Act No. high public functions,” the ministry said.

Chega’s leader believed that this case “is still a tainted one” with the transparency that the government of António Costa promised to have which, he added, “has apparently turned into a multiplication of successive cases of incompatibilities , irregularities and suspected serious conflicts of interest.” “.

Therefore, Ventura will also ask the Constitutional Court to take the necessary steps and conduct the respective investigation process to determine whether or not there was objective illegality that could lead to the dismissal of Pedro Nuno Santos.

“There is a situation of inevitable hindrance in the deals that were made between Pedro Nuno Santos’ company and the state, with Pedro Nuno Santos as minister,” he defended.
