OE2024. For the PSD it is no longer “pipi” and “betinho”, it is just “well dressed”

Luís Montenegro described OE2024 as “pipi”, “well presented” and “very cute”. Faced with bewilderment over the exact meaning of these words, the party’s number 2, Hugo Soares, decided yesterday to create a new terminology. The terms used by the PSD president have been abandoned, but the party continues to speak as if it were in a clothing store.

During his speech at the opening of a new PSD parliamentary day in Lisbon, the party’s secretary general this time preferred to say that OE2024 is “well dressed”. ‘This budget has been very well spent [mas] unable to solve people’s problems,” he said.

Although Hugo Soares did not open the game on what the PSD’s mood will be when the OE2024 proposal is put to a general vote, Hugo Soares today opened the way for Luís Montenegro to do so, in the speech with which he delivered these parliamentary days will close.

And this sentiment can only be against. For the Secretary General of the PSD, “the reduction of the IRS is a kind of lowering of the mask on the part of the party that governs the country: they said they did not support the reduction.” [proposta pelo PSD já para este ano] because they had no budgetary space.” In other words: “After all, it wasn’t a budgetary problem, it was an electoral problem: they want to cut the IRS in a year of European elections, without worrying about social issues.” in 2023 .”

‘We set the agenda’

The PSD leader classified it as “a fallacy” to say that this budget reduces taxes, “while it breaks records in terms of increasing the tax burden”. “It is not being able to tell the truth to the Portuguese, it is blatant lying, in a less polite way. Reduce the IRS, but jump at the indirect taxes, which are blind and disproportionate,” stated he, while classifying it as “Unfortunate” is the announced increase in the Single Circulation Tax (IUC) for older vehicles as it “hits those who have the most problems”. Hugo Soares also refused to withdraw a speech for the PSD for this budget for having ‘correct accounts’: ‘So are we going to learn lessons from a party that has already led the country to bankruptcy three times? Correct accounts are the duty of every Government.”

Earlier, parliamentary leader Joaquim Miranda Sarmento had again accused the government of “following the ideas of the PSD”, albeit “in a lame way”: “We marked the public and political agenda when we said in mid-August that the main priority was the IRS reduction”.

At the same time, he reiterated the five priorities presented by the PSD for OE2024: increasing income, productivity, health, housing and education measures, including the full restoration of teachers’ service time, at a rate of 20%. % per year.
