The gesture did not go unnoticed. During a press conference prior to the opening of the session of questions to the government this Tuesday in the National Assembly, the deputy of the Somme RN Jean-Philippe Tanguy withdrew the flag of the European Union from the platform at the time of his speech .
“That is the true foundation of the RN,” he declared after running, according to colleagues from Release Y The Figaro.
Thus, the deputy spoke for a few minutes on a background in which only the French flag appeared… before putting the European Union flag back in its place, once his speech was finished. “I’m a well behaved boy,” he commented.
“Thank you for remembering the reality of the RN”
With the Huffington PostJean-Philippe Tanguy explained his intention stating that “the French rejected the European flag as a constitutional symbol in 2005”.
“Furthermore, there is no reason to hold press conferences in the Assembly with a symbol contrary to the vote of the French,” he concluded.
A gesture that only “reminds the reality of the RN”, in the words of MEP Nathalie Loiseau. “Thank you Jean-Philippe Tanguy for reminding the reality of the RN: I hate it from him to the European Union. Some naive people had convinced themselves that it wasn’t like that anymore. Fortunately you are here!” she tweeted.
Jean-Philippe Tanguy himself had already stood out last July by demanding the silence of a resounding “Silence, for France!” as he spoke in the Chamber. This unexpected departure had caused laughter both in the opposition and within his own political family.
