Enough wants the resignation of Pedro Nuno Santos, Manuel Pizarro and Ana Abrunhosa

Chega’s president, André Ventura, defended on Wednesday that the current incompatibility law stipulates the resignation of ministers Pedro Nuno Santos, Manuel Pizarro and Ana Abrunhosa, as it is up to all parties in parliament to clear up this regime.

“It is up to all of us – PS, PSD, Chega, IL, BE and PCP – to change and clarify this law. case of ministers Pedro Nuno Santos, Ana Abrunhosa and Manuel Pizarro are the resignations as clearly indicated in the legislation on this matter,” defended André Ventura after leaving parliament.

Referring to the fact that the leaders’ conference next Wednesday, at Chega’s request, has scheduled for the next 21st an interpellation to the government on the existence of possible incompatibilities and conflicts of interest in the exercise of political functions by various members of the current executive Ventura explained that the party “does not only intend to question and investigate the government in this matter, but will also act on the request of the President of the Republic and reformulate the law on incompatibilities in parliament. to introduce”.

“On the 21st, we will not only ask for clarification from the government, but we will also start to reconfigure the legislation on incompatibilities in Portugal, but this, as we said to the President of the Republic, does not prevent cases in our perspective is clearly illegal and already violates current law contrary to what other political leaders have said”said.

For example, the cases of Pedro Nuno Santos, Manuel Pizarro or Ana Abrunhosa are “in the realm of illegality and not of legality”, according to the leader of Chega.

“And that’s why we will question the government on exactly this issue on the 21st when we have the opportunity in the Assembly of the Republic to debate the issue of incompatibilities,” he summed up.

For André Ventura it is strange “that the PSD does not want to revise the law of incompatibilities”.

“We’ve been saying all year that there needs to be more transparency, there needs to be more truth, there needs to be more balance, but when it comes time to change the law, we say no, now it’s on the specific case “Now it’s hot legislation. We need to understand each other. This sends a bad image to public opinion, it gives the impression that politicians are there to do business and not to deal with public space,” he condemned.

As announced on Tuesday, the President of the Republic asked Parliament this Wednesday to review the legal regime on the incompatibilities and impediments of political office holders, if the Assembly of the Republic “deems such reflection relevant and necessary”.

“In fact, the complex legal tangle in Portuguese society has sparked great controversy, in a vital matter for citizens’ trust in institutions, resulting from a constitutional imposition, doubts expressed even by the agency’s advisory board of the Attorney General of the Republic”says a note published this Wednesday on the website of the Presidency of the Republic.
