After Thomas’ death, Darmanin denounces “scandalous acts” coming from “far-right militias”

The Minister of the Interior denounced the far-right demonstrations of recent days, in reaction to the death of the teenager in Crépol, murdered with a knife. Gérard Darmanin believes he has “avoided an Irish scenario”.

Very strong words. After announcing that he wanted to dissolve three small far-right groups following the expedition of activists to Romans-sur-Isère directly linked to the death of young Thomas at a village dance, Gérald Darmanin continues to display his firmness.

Questioned by the communist deputy Soumya Bourouaha, the Minister of the Interior denounced “scandalous acts.”

“The far-right militias came to beat the blacks, the Arabs, in their words, to put an end to the ‘great substitution’, in their nauseating words,” judged again the tenant of Place Beauvau this Tuesday late.

Dissolutions announced this Wednesday

Almost 80 far-right activists have Hooded parade on Saturday night in Romans-sur-Isèreto “fight” with the young people of the La Monnaie neighborhood, where some of the young people suspected of being involved in the death of tomás on November 18th.

Enough to push Gérald Darmanin to promise that the dissolution of three small groups, including the Martel Division, will be “presented” this Wednesday in the Council of Ministers. This far-right group, formed in particular by former members of Zouaves Paris or Bastion Social, small groups now dissolved, was formed in the second half of 2022.

“Avoid an Irish scenario”

Three demonstrations of this movement were held this Monday in Lyon, Grenoble and Aix-en-Provence. Others are planned this week in Lille and Bordeaux, while a “call to mobilize before all city councils in France” has also been launched.

This Monday, six people present in Romans-sur-Isère were sentenced between six and ten months in prison with an internment order, that is, immediate imprisonment.

“What happened deserves the strongest condemnation. And so it was, which made it possible to avoid an Irish scenario,” considered Gérald Darmanin.

Far-right riots rocked Dublin last week after a knife attack left four people injured.
