The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, will travel to Lisbon at the end of this week to speak in a debate at the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation on the political participation of young people and to speak at the PSD’s National Strategic Council.
Sources from Roberta Metsola’s office told Lusa that the person in charge will travel to Portugal on Friday to participate in an event at the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation on the theme of political participation of young people, under the theme “Young people and politics, it is not so simple.”
The same sources explained that the leader of the European Assembly was invited to attend the event, which takes place at the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, by the President of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Francisco Manuel dos Santos. Foundation.
On Saturday, Roberta Metsola will speak for about 20 minutes at the National Strategic Council of the PSD, which will take place at the Carcavelos campus of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, according to the same sources from the responsible office.
These sources specified that the President of the European Parliament was invited by the PSD to participate in this occasion, which defines the party’s priorities in 25 thematic areas and which has 25 coordinators, 15 of which are independent (non-activists).
The National Strategic Council is an advisory body and aims to support the PSD National Directorate in preparing political ideas and proposals for the country. This time the emphasis will be on the election manifesto for the early elections in March next year.
Roberta Metsola was elected in January 2022, becoming the youngest-ever President of the European Parliament and the third woman in this position since the first European elections in 1979.
Now 44 years old, she is also the first Maltese citizen to preside over the European Parliament.
