Airport: Ventura wants to build a new airport in four years

The president of Chega set this Wednesday the target of building the new airport in four years, if he heads the next government, and criticized the PSD’s proposal to create an internal working group.

‘If I am Prime Minister, we will have a new airport in four years’promised André Ventura at the end of the Chega parliamentary days, which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday in a hotel in Matosinhos, Porto district.

The Chega leader said that if he goes to government, that will not be necessary “decades to build it, as PS and PSD want to do”.

André Ventura indicated that he will build the new airport structure to serve Lisbon “without study groups, without wasting money”, claiming that “it is important that the country has a new airport, but it is important that it costs as little as possible. “.

In this context, he wondered whether “enough research had been done in fifty years”.

The Chega leader responded to the indication of the Independent Technical Commission for the investigation of the new Lisbon airport that it could take seven years before there is a first indication of the solution that will be chosen.

“What on earth? Do we need another twenty years to build the airport? Portugal must be at the forefront of modernity”he defended.

Ventura believed they should be elected “solutions that are good for the taxpayer and do not create new gaps” financially, because “The Portuguese are tired of big announcements that have been nothing more than a drain on their tax money, and nothing is happening”.

The Chega president also criticized the PSD leader for announcing the creation of a party working group to analyze the issue of the new airport. “The country is abuzz with the airport and TGV locations and shocked by the twins’ case”.

“My dear Luís Montenegro, it pains me to say this so often, but the Portuguese have had enough of working groups, associations for dams or bisca, observatories, foundations and study groups. They want a decision, and that is what we are going to do if we win the electionshe claimed.

The leader of Chega also asked questions “How can a prime minister who has not been able to decide where the airport would be for eight years”would have us believe that he will make a decision within three months when there are elections “It’s not just the old saying that English people need to see, it’s also that bananas need to see”.

Regarding the case of the Portuguese-Brazilian twins heard in Lisbon, and the suspicions of favoritism on the part of the Presidency of the Republic and the Government, the President of Chega argued that “This swamp must end and this kind of illegal activity must end”.

“And whoever commits them must be held accountable, whether it is the President of the Republic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, a deputy or any other national figure.”because “no one in Portugal is above the law,” he added.

In his intervention, André Ventura also addressed the results of the International Student Assessment Program (PISA), released on Tuesday, which indicate “an unprecedented decline” in the knowledge of mathematics, reading and science of students from all over the world. world, including Portugal.

The leader of the far-right party also accused Education Minister João Costa of “incompetence in managing the ministry.”

Ventura also said he “didn’t even want to believe it” when he heard it “the Minister of Education said he agreed to reinstate teachers’ tenure”when he failed to make any progress in these negotiations, wondering whether “socialists think” the Portuguese are “stupid.”

And he criticized leadership candidate Pedro Nuno Santos for “say you want recovery, but vote for the budget against those who proposed it”and also to defend that it is now essential to close the airport file and make a decision on the location when he was Minister of Infrastructure until recently.
