PS calls Pizarro, but fails parliamentary hearings for Marta Temido and Lacerda Sales

The Socialist Party (PS) failed the parliamentary hearings for Marta Temido and Lacerda Sales, then former Minister of Health and Secretary of State, in the case of the Portuguese-Brazilian twins treated at the Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon.

However, the PS faction summoned the current Minister of Health, Manuel Pizarro, and the President of the Board of Directors of Santa Maria Hospital, Ana Paula Martins, to the Parliamentary Health Committee over the case of the Portuguese-Brazilian twins.

The Liberal Initiative (IL) has already said it will appeal by using the power of former rulers to provide explanations in the Assembly of the Republic.

The information about the PS’s lead to the parliamentary hearings was provided by SIC, which also reported that the parliamentary hearings of the former director and current director of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte, of which Santa Maria Hospital is part, were also failed.

Last month, the Liberal Initiative (IL) announced that it wanted to hear explanations in parliament from former minister Marta Temido and the former and current government of Hospital Santa Maria on the case of the twins who live in Brazil and received treatment. four million euros.

“The President of the Republic claims that he had no interference. It is necessary that those responsible and the governments of the time come to explain,” the IL president emphasized at the time.

Rui Rocha added on the same occasion that if the PS refused to approve the hearings, the party would “probably” resort to “the possibility of using the potestativo”. And that’s what he’s going to do, IL’s president said Thursday.
