António Costa, Prime Minister of the current government, criticized the Portuguese justice system and admitted that he is “hurt” by the way events developed, referring to the fall of the executive. And he assures: “I did nothing wrong”
“I am hurt, but I am not angry,” the outgoing prime minister said in statements to CNN Portugal, where he will give an interview on Monday evening.
When asked if he regrets his decision to resign, Costa says no, but sends the question back to the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the Attorney General of the Republic, Lucília Gago, responsible for the paragraph in the statement about the autonomous investigation to the Prime Minister, by the Supreme Court, following the Influencer operation, which is investigating hydrogen, Lily and the Sines data center deals.
“Today I would do exactly the same as on the 7th [de novembro]. It is a decision from which there is no return. What you can do is ask whoever made the declaration and whoever made the decision to dissolve the Assembly of the Republic, whether they would do the same, given what they know today.
