On the sidelines of the procession, Jean-Luc Mélenchon called “a national strike” this Tuesday, October 18.

Organized between Nation and Bastille this Sunday in Paris, Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s march brought the crowd together. According to the organizers, some 140,000 people attended the event organized by the left-wing alliance Nupes.

For their part, the authorities announced a downwardly revised figure. According to the police, 30,000 people participated in the march.

“We have already succeeded in our bid. This is just the beginning,” said LFI MP Aurélie Trouvou, leader of the march. Shortly before, Jean-Luc Mélenchon had mentioned “a great success”.

A “new popular front”

The strong man on the left, shortly before the start of the parade, spoke of the beginning of a “new Popular Front”.

“It is the great conjunction, we are the ones who are starting it with this march, which is a resounding success,” he congratulated the microphone on a truck in the middle of the crowd, announcing “the construction of a new Popular Front that will exercise power in the country when the time comes.
