The president of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, defended this Monday that the new Socialist leader’s experience in government is a political record, accusing him of wasting millions of euros on TAP, in compensation and of postponing major investments.
“Pedro Nuno Santos’ experience is anything but a calling card: it is a political record. If having experience means wasting 3,200 million euros on TAP, because of incompetence, hesitation or political zigzag, then let him have his experience”he claimed.
At the entrance to a meeting with the hotel and tourism sector, which took place this afternoon in Luso, in the municipality of Mealhada, Luís Montenegro was confronted by journalists with statements from the new PS leader, who said that the right has no experience in governance.
“If having experience means postponing all major investments in highways and railways and postponing our ability to be competitive in our economy, in our regions, then Pedro Nuno Santos should have his experience. We have that experience uncalled for.”he emphasized.
According to the PSD leader, Pedro Nuno Santos’ experience in government is the best way for the Portuguese not to trust him to govern Portugal.
“If having experience means that directors of public companies receive a compensation of 500,000 euros for ‘whatsapp’, one day you say that you don’t know if this existed, that you have no knowledge of it and then later you remember ‘Okay’ on this way, so let Pedro Nuno Santos have this experience”he argued.
Montenegro assured journalists that the PSD is ready to govern because it has more to offer than political experience.
“We have political experience, professional experience, life experience, which is not limited to politics, to be able to offer the Portuguese a project of change, development and prosperity”he assured.
Until Wednesday in the district of Aveiro, Luís Montenegro fulfills the promise he made during the 40th Congress, to spend one week a month in the different districts of Portugal.
According to the party, the “Sentir Portugal” initiative in Aveiro “aims to make contact with local realities and dialogue with citizens, families, municipalities and institutions”.
