The communists will not vote for a “motion of censure coming from the National Association”

On BFMTV-RMC on Tuesday, the PCF chief highlighted the differences in his group’s “political orientations” with the RN.

Guest of BFMTV-RMC this Tuesday, Fabien Roussel indicated that the communists will not vote for a “motion of censure coming from the National Association (RN)”. “We don’t have the same political orientations at all,” said the national secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF), who addressed elected members of Marine Le Pen’s group. According to him, “they are the lackeys of capital.”

“The National Group did not want to vote for the reinstatement of the wealth tax” and “the rise in the minimum wage,” said the deputy from the North.

Regarding the 2023 budget, text on which the Government will use 49.3 -it will be “probably on Wednesday”-, the New Ecological and Social Popular Union (Nupes) and the RN intend to present a motion of censure. For a few weeks, far-right deputies and rebel deputies have questioned a possible joint vote.

However, Marine Le Pen clarified on Sunday on BFMTV that this scenario would only apply in a specific case: if the Government decides to integrate its pension reform by way of amendment in the Social Security Financing Bill (PLFSS), whose exam begins on Thursday.

“Respect the parliamentary debate”

In other words, the RN will not vote on the motion of censure proposed by Nupes. However, to be adopted these provisions require the votes of the majority of the deputies of the National Assembly. With the current composition of the chamber, it would be necessary for Les Républicains (LR), Nupes and RN to vote in favor of a motion of censure. An almost impossible scenario.

However, the Nupes motion of censure is not “symbolic” according to Fabien Roussel.

“The government must understand that the National Assembly reflects what the French wanted and that it must respect the parliamentary debate,” explained the deputy from the North.

The chosen one thus invites the Executive to retain “the amendments of the different oppositions”. Bruno Le Maire indicated on BFMTV on Monday that he would maintain certain amendments but not the superdividend tax proposed by MoDem – still an ally of the majority – and voted for by the Nupes, the RN and 19 Renaissance deputies.
