Montenegro wants Medina to have “half the capacity to implement” Coins

“I would like the Minister of Finance [Fernando Medina] could say, in a year, half the power to achieve that Carlos Moedas just said here in the examples he gave from the Lisbon City Council,” he said.

Luís Montenegro took part in an initiative organized by the PSD/Lisbon, in the Príncipe Real region, entitled “A year of autarkic achievements”, which marked a year after Carlos Moedas took office as president of the municipality of the capital, after he defeated the socialist Fernando had won Medina, now Finance Minister.

The PSD leader stressed that the state budget for 2023 was “presented a week ago by a well-known personality of the Lisbon City Council”, which is “an interesting moment” to “compare what it is like to have intentions, proposals, programs and the has to be done”.

“It’s just that, contrary to what’s been happening with the state budget for seven years, and which I predict will happen in the one presented exactly eight days ago, [para 2023]it is one thing to present ideas, proposals, ‘powerpoints’, objectives, another thing is to materialize”, confirmed

In a speech praising Carlos Moedas’ governance so far, Montenegro insisted that Lisbon is a good example and “in good hands”.

The Social Democrat leader also said that “this will be the biggest cycle of development Lisbon has seen since there is democratic local power in Portugal, led by a Social Democrat, supported by other parties”.

“I am proud and honored to say that in Lisbon we are able to show the Portuguese that if they entrust us with the governance of the country, we will achieve more, better, we will bring more quality of life to the community he emphasized.

Montenegro stressed that the PSD is a party that “brings, adds, aggregates, builds” and “does not leave everything the same”.

“We may not do everything right, but there is a certainty that we say in Lisbon and give to the country: we transform, even if we make mistakes, we try to do it right. Worse than not doing, worse than not transforming, is to keep everything the same and for that we already have the government, we already have enough public power. Let’s take advantage of the opportunities of local authorities, let’s improve people’s lives,” he underlined.
