Remarkable support. Fabien Roussel called this Friday on his Twitter account to join the ranks of the CGT during the next days of inter-union mobilization.
“Let’s get together, let’s unite on October 27 and November 10. The PCF will do everything possible to call on employees, students and retirees to mobilize,” the former communist presidential candidate wrote on the social network.
Roussel absent during the march against dear life
If this announcement is not a surprise – the Communist Party already supported the strike movement last Tuesday – it has a symbolic value, just 5 days after the march against the high cost of living organized by the Nupes.
Initially launched by La France insoumise, Fabien Roussel’s movement hesitated for a long time to participate. He ended up announcing his participation, more than 3 weeks after socialists and environmentalists.
The head of the party, however, did not personally participate in this demonstration, which gathered 140,000 people according to the organizers and 30,000 for the police.
More strike protesters
The Communist Party has not yet indicated whether it wants to participate in the second part of the march against the high cost of living that could take place in mid-November, according to information from RMC-BFMTV.
The inter-union strike last Tuesday brought together some 300,000 protesters according to the CGT and 107,000 in Place Beauvau, in the context of blockades in French refineries and in a context of record price increases.
The next mobilizations have as their slogan the rise of the SMIC to 2000 euros and the indexation of all salaries to inflation.
